North American Healthcare Provider turns to IBM® SPSS® Statistics to boost clinic performance and speed patient services All around the globe, nations are contending with medical costs that are rising faster than inflation and patients who are frustrated by long waits for appointments. The agenda for the NHS has never been tougher. Trusts must save £15-20Bn across the NHS, whilst maintaining the quality of care that patients receive. It is universally agreed that innovation must be the driving force behind the reconfiguration and evolution of the NHS. Innovation and innovative thinking, however, take many forms, and it is important that the pursuit of innovation does not focus solely on that which is new and high tech. In fact, it is often simple and accessible solutions - solutions which have been proven successful in practice - that provide an answer when a new challenge presents itself. Shifting delivery of services from hospitals to community settings is one of the biggest challenges that has faced the NHS in living memory, and one that will require no small measure of innovative thinking to overcome. The answer, however, will not be found in high tech IT systems, or process management, or any new medical gadgets - these are a given in such a complex sector. In its simplest form, the problem is about being able to provide a suitable clinical environment in a local setting, quickly, safely and cost-effectively. This video demonstrates the ways in which mobile healthcare facilities can be used to tackle the issues facing the modern NHS, and deliver the accessible and affordable innovation that NHS organisations need in this era of cost-saving and efficiency.

Phoenix Children’s CISO, Daniel Shuler, and its IT security team are responsible for protecting 5,000 endpoints in the hospital and across more than 20 clinics in the region. Endpoints include physician and staff laptops and desktops, nursing stations, servers, Windows-based clinical devices, credit card payment processors, and point-of-sale terminals. These endpoints are used to store and/or process personal health information (PHI), and payment and credit card information. They must comply with HIPAA for PHI and voluntarily comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) for credit card data. The IT security team’s existing industry-leading AV solution claimed to provide visibility into malicious activity aimed at the endpoints. It continuously reported all endpoints were safe, sound, and secure. This caused Daniel to be suspicious. He knew from experience that such low levels of endpoint malicious activity was highly unlikely. Read the full case study to learn about the results Cylance was able to deliver.
